The LifeSkills (Personal Empowerment Program) supports individuals receiving services through DSHS DDCS by using creative activities to build independence, emotional awareness, and everyday life skills in a supportive environment. For eligible DDCS clients, waiver services may be fully covered.

What Is the Lifeskills Personal Empowerment Program?

LifeSkills personal empowerment program focuses on helping participants build confidence and practical skills that support everyday living. Through art-based activities and guided, structured engagement, participants are encouraged to explore self-expression, strengthen decision-making, improve communication, and develop emotional regulation in a positive and supportive setting.

  • Achieve empowerment in the Arts and build self-esteem and confidence learning how to design, prepare and exhibit your work and be recognized by our community.
  • Community collaboration and inclusion in the arts and participation in an annual on site exhibition, show, or special event.
  • Improve communication, social skills and interpersonal relationships as you create artwork and communicate your artistic achievements to our community.
  • Develop friendships and make social connections and participate in a community annual exhibition.

How Registration Works

The registration process is designed to be simple, clear, and fully supported from start to finish. Families are never left to navigate the process alone — our team is available to guide you through each step, answer questions, and help with documentation so getting started feels easy and stress-free.

PROCESS

How Registration Works

The registration process is simple and supported every step of the way. Families submit a request, complete a few forms, and our team works directly with DDCS to coordinate approval. Once everything is in place, services begin and sessions are scheduled.

Submit your registration online and indicate that you’re requesting services through DDCS.

You’ll automatically get a confirmation letting you know your request was submitted.

Upload Required Documents

After registering, you can upload your artist bio and art samples right away or later via email.
